Five Fords Fifth Family Floriday Aug 18 - Day 20 - Animal Kingdom, Satu'li Canteen & O'hana's

Monday 27th August

Poppy's Kidcot travel bag from Epcot

The day started off as usual with me being the first to wake up followed by Scott then the kids.

We had some pastries or cereal for breakfast and then we were soon on our way to the bus stop. Unlucky for us that an AK bus had just pulled away so we had a bit of a wait until another came.

When the bus arrived it was empty, got to the south depot and it was so busy there and the bus got packed out.

Arrived at Animal Kingdom at 10.30 - on our walk through Poppy picked up a Wilderness Explorer’s book as she wanted to do a few of the challenges today.

We arrived just in time for our fastpass for Pandora, wow this ride is on another level and definitely one of my favourites in Disney World.

Looked in the gift shop afterwards and we managed to find a few packets of sweets that we could use our snack credits on. We were gradually getting down them all!

Walked across the park to Asia as we were riding Kali Rapids next.

We dumped our bags into the locker first though as we didn’t want anything in them to get wet!

The fastpass queue was really long again but it kept moving and before long we were sat in a raft hurtling down the river. Of course we got soaked which is all part of the fun.

Staying in Asia for our next ride Everest and Scott said that he wasn’t too bothered about going on so I got to ride with the boys!
Poppy completed a couple of the Wilderness Explorer’s challenges whilst we were on Everest.

We then met back up and walked back over to Pandora as we wanted try Satu’li Canteen for lunch. Having read lots of good reports about this place we needed to check it out.

We tried to do mobile ordering but for some reason I couldn’t get it to work? Even though I was signed into my account it kept telling me to sign in but said that the password was incorrect? I got fed up with trying and we just went to the regular line. As it was there was no line so we went straight up to order.

The food here was really good and tasted really fresh, we like the healthier options that were offered here and the choices of the dishes too.

I was the only one who fancied a dessert here though which turned out to be totally delicious!

We all gave this place a big thumbs up and we agreed that this had been one of our best meals.

Whilst we were eating I managed to book a fastpass for FOTLK, so glad to know we’d be watching this later.

Hayden asked to go on Dinosaur so we walked over to get a return time for him. The kids didn’t have a dessert so we picked up some ice creams from Dino Bite snacks whilst we were in the area.

By this time it was well into the afternoon and nearly time for the show so we headed over to Africa. The sky was getting really dark so it looked like a good time to be going somewhere under cover!

We more or less walked straight in has the doors had just opened and we ended up having a really good view in the Warthog section.

This show is just amazing and I always seem to shed a tear at this fantastic spectacle. I love the Lion King so much!

When we walked back outside we were greeted to rain, it wasn’t too heavy though so we walked up to the train station to go over to Rafiki’s planet Watch.

Love the little train journey to take you up there.

Poppy was able to complete a few more challenges here and we all learnt a few new things whilst doing them.

Afterwards we caught the train back down then we had a look in the shop creature comforts where we were able to use some more of our snack credits.

Then we went back across the park to the Dinosaur ride, Scott wasn’t too bothered about going on so I took the boys over.

Whilst the rain had stopped a while back it was still a little wet in places and as we walked through the fastpass line my crocs must’ve still been a bit wet as I skidded and went flying on the floor. Oh my word I felt such a fool and worst of all my ears came flying off! I just shouted to the boys pick me up! I knew that everyone had seen me oh the shame. Normally I’d laugh to myself about something like this but I’d hurt by backside when I fell!

Anyway thankfully we were soon on the ride where it is very dark so I could hide my embarrassment!

It had been a while since we’d been on Dinosaur and it always manages to scare me!

It was 6pm now the time had flown by again, we left Animal Kingdom then but we called at Guest Services first we had a couple of ADR’s that we needed to cancel.

All sorted we waited for a bus to go to the Polynesian, one soon came along and we arrived at 6.45 right on time!

It was really busy and the line to check in was really long. Once we eventually checked in the cast member advised of a 15 minute wait ime which didn’t seem too bad considering all the people that were waiting around.

Soon our buzzer went off and we had a lovely table with a view of the castle. Of course we were there way too early to watch Happily Ever After but an ideal spot if it had have been later.

We ordered a couple of cocktails with our meal, they’d ran out of pineapples’ which was fine by me, the Lapu Lapu tasted absolutely fine in a glass!

The food soon arrived and it was good and filling, nothing special but we enjoyed what we had especially the dessert.

It had been raining whilst we’d been eating but thankfully it stopped by the time we’d finished. From being called in to leaving the meal had took an hour!

Had a nosey in the gift shop I remarked to Scott about how the prices had really shot up from our last visit 2 years ago!

After our walk around we went outside to look at Luau Beach well we couldn’t visit here and not look at the place where we got married could we.
It was dark then but it still looked beautiful and the memories of our wedding came flooding back.

Scott bless him then got his phone out and played When you Wish Upon a Star from YouTube, one of our wedding songs and we had a little dance under the palm trees where we got married. Of course I started to cry as it was so unexpected and it was such a lovely gesture. Being there with my wonderful husband and our kids again meant so much.

There wasn’t anyone else on that beach apart from one other couple so I wasn’t bothered about how daft we looked. I was so happy and thankful to be back in Disney World with my family.
We then heard the music from the Electrical Light Parade so we watched that go by.

At that point another couple came onto the beach, it was still really quiet there.
The fireworks then started, we couldn’t hear the music but that didn’t bother us it was so wonderful just to watch them.

Afterwards we caught the monorail over to Magic Kingdom then the bus home which was absolutely rammed, we just managed to get on it!

I did some packing whilst Scott took the Poppy down to the small pool near to us, stayed there until 11pm. Meanwhile Hayden and Jamie showered and watched some tv and Youtube.
Finally we were all in bed at 11.30 after a fabulous day and a fantastic night

Thanks for reading!

Oh dear, I hope you weren't hurt too badly when you fell Julia.

Another lovely day out, you seem to fit so much into your days without it being a rush.

What a beautiful end to the day, being able to re-live your wedding day and watch the fireworks from the beach.

This was a lovely read thank you. I'm considering an August trip? Do you feel like its too hot and we are thinking of going the last two weeks of August, super busy?

I thought I was the only person who cried watching the Lion King show. The ladies voice was so beautiful

Thank you for your lovely words.

It is quite hot but manageable if you take it easy and have breaks from the heat in the air conditioning.

The last 2 weeks tend to be quieter because or the American schools going back.

Good luck
