Five Fords Fifth Family Floriday Aug 18 - Day 24 - Travel home
Friday 31st August
We had a relaxed first couple of hours to start the day we only had our toiletries and nightwear to pack. Scott took the cases down to the car while we had some breakfast. We finished off the remainder of the food and snacks that we had. Poppy wanted to have a walk around the resort for the last time so we had a quick wander around. It was then 10am time for us to leave the Beach Club. The maid had knocked on our door twice to ask what time we were leaving firstly at 8.30 than an hour later! It really annoys me when they do that I think it’s so rude! We had no issue getting the cases into the car it was so big and roomy. On collection Scott had noticed that the fuel wasn’t on full, the woman made a note of it being under but we popped to the petrol station to put a few dollars worth of fuel in to be on the safe side. We picked up a few snacks whilst we were there - some muffins and various packets of crisps. Then we were on our way to MCO saying our goodbyes to all the places we'd visited as we drove past. This time we remembered to turn the sunpass off and we just paid the $2.50 toll as cash. We were soon at the airport where we dropped the car off making sure the receipt was zero. Once inside we found American Airlines on which we were directed to the machines. After inputting all our information in the machine then told us check in hadn’t completed and we needed to go to an actual desk! Finally we got checked in then we went through security which was ok apart from me forgetting that I had an additional lens in my bag so that had to be checked. Once through we went to our gate and found a place nearby to sit down. Kids were feeling hungry we had something to eat from Wendy’s then it was time to board the plane. We had a delay of 40 minutes but eventually we landed at JFK, the flight had been fine I’d watched the majority of Pacific Rim. It was a little confusing when we got off the flight and we weren’t sure where to go. Eventually we worked out that we needed to catch the air train to Terminal 7. It was a long walk to the air train but from there it all went smoothly even security. Arrived at the gate to find the smallest of waiting areas with around 50 seats all of which were taken of course. This made it super busy. Grabbed some donuts from Dunkin Donuts along with some drinks and of course water for the flight. Thankfully we didn’t have long to wait until we got on the flight. Boarding got under way, we were the last group to be called we had the seats near the back of the plane which meant we had a bit more space. We settled ourselves down for the 6 hour flight, we were offered drinks first then some food. I watched the remainder of Pacific Rim. Managed a little nap but Poppy kept watching the various kids films. The flight went well we were offered another drink along with a cheese filled pretzel and we landed at 6am, it was a lovely sunny morning in London. Our flight to Manchester departed form Terminal 5 so we followed the signs to the transportation to get there. Security etc went smoothly, we found our gate number and by the time we arrived the flight was boarding. Flight up to Manchester went well, we collected our bags, went to collect our car then we were on our way back home. We were so grateful that all the flights had gone well for us. And that was it the end of our Florida holiday 2018! We had the most amazing time again we so love Florida and we always pinched ourselves as we can’t quite believe that we’d been able to go back! But it is so worth all the months of saving and planning to be able to go to our happy place. Future Plans Well it took me a while to get round to writing this trip report so we’ve already been on our summer 2019 holiday which can only be described as the trip of a lifetime. We ventured over to the West Coast for the first time which was a little daunting as we knew very little about this. Thankfully the dibbers on the West Coast forums were very helpful and I was able to plan an amazing trip with their help. If you’re interested in National Parks like Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Death Valley and cities like L.A, San Francisco then I’ll be starting my trip report very soon over in the West Coast trip forums. Of course one of our main reasons for visiting was to go to Disney Land which was so amazing, we had to have our Disney fix! Thanks for reading and an extra big thank you to those of you who left a comment! The Ford Family |

I've just read the last few days of your trip report and it sounds like you had a lovely last few days.
The Beach Club looks like a really nice hotel and I would love to stay there one day.
