Thank goodness you've given up on the madness of the idea to not take magic bands.

Fitting in the fireworks is going to be tricky. I think I'd do HEA at MK on the first Monday as that gives opportunity for later in the trip If you end being rained off or plans go awry for some reason. Or, depending on the time of your Ohana ADR you could do HEA on the Tuesday.

That leaves ROL on the Wednesday as you're already at AK. Plus it is not normally too late so if you need an early night before the challenge day it could work out ok.

Have you thought about what park you will end up in on the challenge day? Perhaps HS would be best so that you could do Fantasmic or Star Wars fireworks that night.

On the Monday what about swapping the Whispering canyon ADR and doing this before Epcot? Then you could do the fireworks there.

Personally I like to make the most of FP and so like to book them every day if possible. So on the Busch Gardens day you could do a park in the evening and swap the Paddlefish ADR to the Friday evening. But, the busy day guide always says that Disney Springs is not recommended on a Friday or Saturday so perhaps that's why you went with it on the Wed?

I think you're right to go for two morning shots at getting a boarding pass at HS. Plus with the tiering there it would mean you could book up different tier 1 rides each trip.

Yay I think I’ve got the final bit of tweaking to do and then I’m
There! Until closer to the time when they change park hours 🙈 that was my thinking gives us two chances to try and get a boarding pass and then if we don’t get one at least we will have tried 🙈

Now that people have said it’s looking better I’m going to start planning the days and the fireworks. I can’t decide if I want to go an watch river of lights. Seen it a couple of times and while I enjoyed it I’m not sure ryan would 🤔

Haha I thought it seemed like a sensible idea but apparently not 🙈 just hoping our bands from our previous trip work ok otherwise we will have to buy some!

My plans with Ohana was to watch the fireworks from the poly beach that evening but I do need to fit in watching them properly.

I’m not sure whether we will end up going to see river or lights as I think Ryan may not enjoy it. I might fit it in one evening where ryan can go ride something while I watch it but I’m unsure it was a good show but I didn’t love it enough that it’s a must see!

Yeah I think on challenge day we are hoping to end with animal kingdom so no chance of watching fantastic that day. I may have to change an Epcot evening to Hollywood studios instead or after Busch gardens we could go there so we can catch it!

That’s a good idea actually! I always think ADR’s should go after park’s for some reason however it being before would work well actually.

Again I think your way works better and paddlefish would be better on the Friday. We don’t mind ignoring the busy day guide when it comes to Disney springs. What I was trying to avoid is doing universal and Disney the same day as I’m aware we need to be careful with parking fees.

I’m hoping even though we are booking fastpasses at 30 days there will still be some tier one passes left! Fingers crossed. I think some final bits of tweaking and I’ll be there!

5 park challenge September 2018

These bits are always my favourite bits to write about. As you may be aware a couple of trips back me and mum decided to up our game and do 5 parks in 1 day which meant adding in a waterpark. The trip report can be read Here This was our first attempt and we loved it. It's a tiring day but we felt like we achieved a lot. The rules in this attempt were:

-Ride 3 attractions
-Snack in every park
-Pressed penny in each park
-Buy a pin in every park
-Use every mode of Disney transport
-Walk around the park (meaning you cant walk in do the closest attractions and leave.

Onto our September trip where me and Ryan decided to attempt the 5 Parks in 1 day challenge. As I didn't write a Full trip report I’ve decided I’ll add in a small trip report day here of what we completed on our 5 parks day.

The rules of the day are
-Ride three attractions
-Snack in every park
-Picture in front of the icons
-Photo with a silly hat

The day started at the boardwalk Inn resort. We were up at the early time of 6am which is a time that should never been seen whilst on holiday but always seems acceptable at Disney. Magic kingdom opened for extra magic hours at 8am so we wanted to make sure we got there beforehand to get our place on the rope. We left the resort and grabbed the bus to Magic Kingdom arriving around the 7:30am mark. Only 30 minutes early

With the crowds rushing towards the castle to get ready for the SDMT we headed right as our first stop was going to be Space Mountain. We had decided on rides of the day in our plan so wanted to stick to it as much as we could. We queued on the rope at the entrance to Tomorrowland until 8am rolled around. My goodness it seemed like we were stood there forever. You feel like your wasting time but actually challenge time hasn't even started yet.

The rope dropped and we hopped skipped and jumped over to Space Mountain which was a walk on. On and off pretty quickly we made our way round to the Little Mermaid. This queue takes so long to walk through. I’m sure this ride is always a walk on it just takes you the wait time to walk through the queue. As you probably would have guessed this was a walk on but we felt like it would be an easy ride to knock out.

From here we walked around to Big Thunder Mountain which again we managed to knock off the list pretty quickly. Once finished we made our way through adventure land and onto pirates as it would be rude not too. I love the pirates as does Ryan so we could hardly miss a ride today when the wait times are so short.. After leaving pirates we took some pictures before heading down main street.

We went into the emporium to find our silly hats before we headed over to the main street bakery for our snack. We picked a huge Mickey cookie after all it was our breakfast. This was really nice and something easy to share and eat while we were walking to the bus stop. In our plan we aimed to leave around 10:30am however after coming out of the shops we were making our way to the bus stop at 9:45am. Not a bad run for 1 hour 45 mins. Next stop will be Animal kingdom.

We were at the bus stop at 9:55am and from photos can see we arrived at 10:30am to Animal kingdom.Once we arrived at Animal Kingdom We got our pictures taken in front of the tree and then onto our fast passes. First up I had booked a 10:30am fastpass for Everest for Ryan, He rode it and loved it as normal. I wouldn't be doing Everest. I have a love hate relationship with this ride and I didn't want to risk feeling ill and ruin the rest of the day so I sat this one out. We had a FP for dinosaur but the wait time was 15 minutes so we decided to walk over an ride this now as our fastpass was booked for 12:55pm which was pushing our leaving time which was 1pm. The wait was slightly longer than 15 minutes if I can remember rightly but as we had arrived around 30 minutes early to this park we didn't mind too much.

We rode dinosaur and then made our way around to the Safari. This ride was probably a slight risk as it’s one of the longer attractions which can be made even longer if an animal stops in front of the trucks. Luckily for us it was all smooth sailing and we were off the Safari without any problems and making our way over to Navi river journey.

We had a FP booked at 11:50am and we arrived bang on our time and headed into the ride. It's a cute ride but no way would I never go on this unless I have a FP. Once we had finished we knew our rides were done so we stopped for some lunch. There was only one place to go and thats the Satu'li canteen. Lunch was enjoyable we shared one of the mixed dishes and the cheeseburger pods both were really nice and it wasn't overly busy in here. We left the restaurant and I went to the restroom while Ryan waited outside.

I came back and he said to me “Ive done something with the fps” my heart dropped I didn't trust him to not mess around with FP on other days and he wasn't use to the system yet my god what had he done. Well while messing around with the fast passes he actually managed to grab a slinky dog FP for later that afternoon. He wasn't sure whether to take it as it was a 6:30 FP and we were meant to be out of Hollywood studios by then but he went for it and grabbed it anyway.

I couldn't believe it a slinky dog FP grabbed in the middle of the day. Ive got a screen shot as we were heading out of pandora towards the front of the park at 12:43. We popped into the shops on the way out for silly hat pictures, We exited the park and as we were nearing the Blizzard Beach bus stop we noticed there was bus in the station so a little jog and made it just in time result.

The bus journey was uneventful and after arriving and taking pictures at the entrance it was 1:30pm. Lockers sorted off we were to enjoy what Blizzard Beach had to offer today. This was Ryan’s first visit to Blizzard Beach so I knew this was going to be exciting for him. We started off with the storm slides which was a pretty quick up and down before heading to the Toboggan racers. We had a little bit of a wait as it seemed the machine bringing up the mats was broken, we waited probably about 15 minutes and just as we were about to give up it started again. We then walked back towards the rapids at the back of the park and rode this. Im pretty sure we rode the water rides a couple of times each but I cant be sure and with no photo evidence.

Once finished on the rapids we entered the lazy river as there was an entrance close by and we had a float around. After one lap we were done with this park and headed to the changing rooms to get ready to leave. On leaving we had our snack which were mini donuts which are always amazing and so fresh and a quick silly hat picture before exiting the park.

The annoying thing about doing the water parks is there is no direct bus from here to another park only other hotels. We were trying to work out which hotel was closest and then decided it doesn't really matter and we would just get on the first bus that arrived so we could get moving with the day. The first bus that came was for Coronado springs which seemed to work out well. I know its going back on ourselves but we knew it would be a short journey there. Once we got there it was straight off the bus and to the Hollywood studios bus stop. No I dont have any photo evidence of what time we arrived at Hollywood Studios but the plan was to be there by 4pm and I know up until this point we were on time or early so lets assume it was around 4pm at this point.

If I'm honest this is the point where we started to slow down. Due to the fact that we had a much later FP we could really just take it slower and try and regain some of our energy. We walked through the shops for some air con and to take our picture with our silly hat. Once we had finished we wanted to get our pictures taken in front of the Chinese theatre so that part of the challenge was done.

We walked around to Star Tours which was a 30 minute wait but there weren't any other lines with a lower wait so we went on and enjoyed it.

From there we went to Toy Story Mania which was a 20 minute wait so we joined the queue. I must admit at this point the queue seemed to take forever. We were slowly starting to flag and with Hollywood studios being our least favourite park this was the point when we really needed a pick me up. Ryan won obviously he always does win. When we came out our friends had messaged to say they were in the park and heading to Toy Story Land so we waited for them to do their FP on Toy Story Mania and then sat outside talking for a bit before our Slinky dog fastpass. We loved this ride we didn't really expect to ride it today and we had a FP later on in the holiday but we really enjoyed it and I'm glad we got to add this main attraction in our 5 park line up. Once we were finished we said quick goodbyes as we were really behind schedule now.

We headed for the boat stop however when we arrived the line was huge and we worked out we probably wouldn't make it on the first boat. Not wanting to risk waiting ages there seemed like only one sensible option on a day where we've walked miles and miles….. we decided to walk to Epcot. Im not really sure why we decided this it seems like such a painful choice hahah

We started to walk and instantly regretted this choice! We thought while we were walking we may as well pop into our hotel on the Boardwalk. I decided to get changed as I was hot and sweaty and we grabbed our drink mugs. Back downstairs we nipped into the bakery and filled our mugs and drank them on the way to Epcot.

We entered at the international gateway we walked up to the world showcase and jumped on The finding Nemo ride. We looked knackered by this point and we were really looking forward to having a nice sit down meal once we had finished.

Next was going to be Test Track however we popped into mouse gear on the way across to get our silly hat picture once done We then walked over to test track where we decided to go single rider to get us through the line quicker. The ride was uneventful and it didn't take us long to get through the queue.

At this point it was time for our ADR at the Nine dragons so we walked back down to the world showcase and checked in bang on our reservation time of 8:20pm. It was so nice to sit down and just relax. We ordered our food and the service was great. We both ordered the orange chicken and then had dessert as it was included on the dining plan.

We had one more ride to do to compete this park and if we are honest we really couldn't be bothered. The plan was to head back to future world but we knew we just wouldn't make it. While sat in Nine Dragons we noticed Frozen was a 20 minute wait and it was just next door. Ryan had told me he wouldn't ride this at all however the tiredness off the day must have gotten to him and he agreed as it was easy. When we arrived the wait time was 35 minutes but we still decided to queue up. It took forever! We debated leaving however we couldn't be bothered and we had wasted time already so we thought we may as well stay. we eventually got on the ride and to say it was frozen Ryan said its actually not a bad ride.

As we exited the ride we started making our way back to the international gateway. Just as we got to the exit illumination started. It wasn’t Ryan’s favourite show and we were just done with the day so we continued to walk out watching as we went. We walked back to the boardwalk and filled our mugs up as we went before heading to the room. When we got to the room we showered got ready for bed and moisturised our feet because they deserved it.

After such a long day we had achieved over 35k steps which is over 13miles I believe. 18 rides and Ryan did 19, a snack in every park and loads of memories. what a great great day and I cant wait to do it again.

Thank you for reading my long post. I wanted to share what a great day we had before we do our next challenge this year.

It sounds like you had a fantastic day and managed to get on loads of rides. I'm still deciding on what rules we are going to use for our 4 park challenge this time. You've inspired me to try and plan it out tonight.

What a fantastic 5 park challenge. I loved reading it. You must have been shattered. I have a photo of us first thing walking to the bus stop when we did our 4 park challenge. Of course it was dark, why wouldn't you want to get up in the early hours of the day while on holiday? It's one of my favourite photos of the day.

I took loads of tips from your 5 park challenge with your mum for when we did ours, I'm still thinking what we should do this summer. I just don't know. I can't wait to see what you're going to do this year. I bet it's going to be awesome. I did wonder if you'd add in a universal park, so you could make it a 6 park day, but that would add to the parking costs, so what about including Disney Springs?

It was an amazing day! We are hoping to get more rides done this year compared to our last attempt even if it’s only one more! There’s so many different things you can do it’s really what you find fun! I must admit me and mum enjoyed getting a pressed penny in every park’ yay I’m glad you’ve been inspired’ I look forward to hearing your plans for it!

Thank you! We were shattered what did help is we finished in Epcot and the hotel was within walking distance! Yay I’m glad mine and mums day helped you plan yours! Oh you should give it a go! Try different rules from last time! Or why not do the molly from all ears challenge and see how many fastpasses in magic kingdom you can get in one day?

You’ve caught me 🙈 you guessed correctly I couldn’t give up with only 5 parks again so we will be doing 4 Disney parks and the two universal parks 😬 I didn’t want to pay parking in both parks but it’s a one off day and we would have been paying for two lockers in the waterparks anyway so basically the same isn’t it 🙈 I’m working on a new plan now to work the universal parks into our day! I must be mad 😂

Wow, 4 Disney parks and 2 Universal parks in the same day is really ambitious. I'm looking forward to hearing all about how you're going to plan it.

I had forgotten about your parking costs as we never hire a car, but you mentioned it the other day when we were talking about the itinerary and that's when I figured you'd have to stick with just the Disney parks. I'm so excited to see a 6 park day. Do you watch Tim Tracker? A while ago they attempted something like 8 parks in one day...is that even possible? They were bummed out though as they went to LEGOLAND first and it was closed, but they did do a lot of parks.

I am really tempted by the Molly challenges. I love her vlogs, she likes a cocktail too so thats probably part of what appeals to me about her. I wonder if we'd find it difficult to do as a party of 4 though. But it would be fun to try. I did think about all the thrill rides. But boy that seems like a full on day. There's loads of ideas though I've just got to narrow it down and then actually come up with a plan.
