Bayous to Beaches. Oct 19. Day 14. Sunshine, Seafood, Sandy Beaches and Showhomes. Palm Coast.

Monday 14 October

Yesterday is here

Another lazy morning although It wasnt as peaceful today as they were out before 8 with the leaf blowers, lawn mowers and strimmers. You cant play loud music or over rev your engine early doors but you can be out with wretched garden power tools.

It was another lovely hot day - it had certainly been noticeably warmer since we had arrived in Florida

We had no plans for the day so we mooched about the condo for a bit before heading out to the metro diner for breakfast . After that we planned sometime at the beach so i packed a cooler and bag with our beach wear.

Two things, that grey fold up rucksack from IKea is brilliant. It’s the best hand luggage we have - it weighs nothing and has huge capacity.

The cooler was from the condo and it had a neat storage section in the curved top where i could put frozen water bottles . nifty design

I also packed some my snax.

I was looking forward to breakfast at the Diner.`12

When researching I had already spied the Yo Hala on the Square.

But when it came to it, I wasn’t feeling a sweet breakfast and went for the corned beef hash

Yum

With a pineapple mimosa

Double yum. Well it was 12 o clock somewhere after all.

Andy decided he was more in the mood for lunch so had fish and chips

Loved it here. It’s a chain but I haven’t seen that many , we did pass one in St Augustine .

From here we spent a bit more time driving around the area .

I had expected to see more Halloween stuff out - i mean Disney start it from end of August right - but only a few places with decs out yet.

We popped into a couple more show homes

There was no loo roll shortage at this time

Mid afternoon we made our way to the beach near Marineland. It was very quiet and so peaceful watching the waves and the fishing boats in the distance.

There were piles and piles of tiny shells around the rocks

We sat and read and then Andy called the bank ..hurrah it was all finally sorted. All money refunded. So that was the end of our art buying adventure.

Early evening a large group turned up and it was lovely to see them having so much fun. We got chatting to one of the Dads and he said they were a football (soccer) team from Texas who were over to compete in a tournament. They were enjoying being at the coast .

It had been such a nice afternoon. I hadn’t been brave enough to go in the sea. A combination of it looking a bit chilly and not wanting to go`in over my ankles as it is definitely shark territory

We had the snackage to keep us going

but were both hungry now .

We stopped at this place near Hammock on the way home

The only thing with these teeny DIBB photos is how rubbish some of the large menus come out They look fine normal size like these but I can see the Metro ones came out poor

As it was Marg Monday, it would have been rude not to partake so I went for a Texas Margarita ... taking a chance on that tricky Tequila stuff

It was quite strong.

Andy went for a steam pot and I had the blackened chicken A1A salad ( that’s the road they are on)

The salad was filled with mandarin, feta, toasted almonds and was delicious. I wasn’t so sure about the cherry vinagrette . A bit too sweet.

Speaking of which I had spied dessert hence why opting for salad.
I wanted fried banana cheesecake.

Thinking it was cheesecake with fried bananas on top.

Nope

They only deep fry the whole darn thing.

Cheesecake spring roll right there. It was bursting with warm cheesecake and honey sauce plus the bananas.

It was consumed in seconds. Totally yum

Back at the condo we sat out for a bit watching the last few boats coming back to dock in the darkness.
A perfect end to a lovely chilled out day

Tomorrow is HERE

Today’s cocktail tally: 2
Holiday total : 23

Dream day! You know how I feel about showhomes and these are lovely. Nice afternoon at the beach too just chilling and reading.

Food offerings for the day look good too, I especially like the look of your corned beef hash at breakfast. Oh, and your beach snacks

They were all lovely. Sigh. We had a nice day just tootling around. And we are not beach people but we really enjoyed our afternoon there. It’s very different and so much more relaxing when you are not stressing about your kids being in the water

It was definitely a good food and drink day

You are incredibly self controlled where show homes are concerned. I have zero self control and would be signing us up to live in one if we dared to set foot inside ….. I have to make sure I never sign us up for a DVC tour for the same reason!

What a perfect day!
Your breakfast and dinner look delish, I especially like the sound of the pineapple mimosa
Love, love, love that show home. The colours and furniture are right up my street.
Hurrah on the bank finally sorting out the mess, I bet Andy is banned from buying any art from now on
Beach time looks ideal, it's so lovely to just sit and watch the world go by.
This whole day would have been my idea of heaven
