Talking 5-week Split Stay in Florida, Feb/March 2020 - Day 07: Windsor Hills & Disney Springs

Day 07: Windsor Hills & Disney Springs
February 16, 2020

[-- Trip Index --]

Was just updating the trip index and noticed this is the third day within a week that I've labeled "Windsor Hills & Disney Springs". Obviously we've gotten into a little groove now of happy villa days followed by Disney Springs outings in the afternoon/evening! I remember waking up this morning thinking how lucky we were - this was day 7 but we were not actually halfway through our holiday, we still had a full month to go!

We all slept till 7AM this morning. I have to say, by the way, I am totally in love with the beds and bedding in the villa! The beds were super comfy and the sheets SO soft! Even Michael, who is notoriously picky about beds and usually doesn't sleep well in "strange" beds, was happy with them and couldn't find anything to moan about!

Myla and I snuggled in our big bed for a while with a coffee for me and the iPad for her while Michael did a workout. We got out of bed at 8 and had some porridge and did coloring together until Michael was finished. I then did my work on the laptop while he played with Myla, and I finished just after 10.

This weekend was a bank holiday weekend in the US, President's Day, and we decided to take it easy this morning and just go to the pool here at Windsor Hills. Coincidentally, that is exactly what she asked to do when we were getting dressed, so that worked out well. 😊

As we got in the car to drive the 2 minutes down to the community pool, we saw the workers collect the rubbish from all the villas. I couldn't believe it when I saw they just threw it into the back of pickup trucks!

I don't think that's allowed back home?!

Once at the pool, Michael played with Myla in the water and I sat on a sun lounger and relaxed, it was so nice! This was my view:

Myla was having a great time climbing on this little ledge and jumping in, over and over:

This was her showing me her wrinkled fingers after more than an hour in the water lol:

This is her laughing, by the way.

After getting in the water for a bit, I retreated back to my sunlounger and did some more reading/relaxing.

I was also watching Myla in the shallow water playing with other kids - her English has improved so much and she had no problem talking away to the other kids now! (we live in Holland and I'm Dutch whereas my husband is British, so at home she learns 2 languages, but her Dutch was better than her English up until now as that's all she heard in nursery!)

Around 1pm Myla was hungry and tired and had enough, so we took her back to the villa. I bathed her and then had a shower myself while Michael sorted her out with lunch. We asked her what she fancied doing this afternoon, and Myla asked to get more chocolate icecream at "Disney Sprinkles"!

That sounded like a great idea to us so we left the villa at 14:45 and parked up in the Grapefruit garage at Disney Springs just after 3.

She insisted we strap her new and beloved Figaro into the car seat properly before agreeing to leave him in the car - "otherwise it's not safe daddy! " she said, wagging her finger sternly. We weren't about to argue so:

Myla realized this is where the carousel was too and she asked to go on that again, which was fine by us! We walked over there, and bought 3 tokens for $5 so she could ride the little train later too.

It was very hot, 30 degrees roughly, and Myla's cheeks were bright red with being hot, so we took her to the little water play area in front of BBB first. She insisted on changing her dress so she didn't get it wet (although she was paranoid about the spare dress getting wet too even though we assured her it was fine!), but had fun running around the little water fountains. It was a good way for her to cool down for a bit.

Then we walked over to the little train and let her ride that. She actually insisted she was a big girl and wanted to ride it on her own like she saw some bigger kids do, so we just watched and waved lol!

She thought this was absolutely fabulous and loved it!

We walked around a bit next, taking in the scenery. We were really loving DS this trip - it was nice to have so much time to spend there (even if we did do the same thing every time!), and all the new shops and areas were great, such an improvement on what it used to be for us!

We headed to Erin McKenna bakery next for the chocolate icecream and brownie bites, so tasty! I must see if I can get a recipe for this - it was just so yum.

Myla said she didn’t want to go home after she finished her icecream, so we walked along the water for a bit and watched one of the amphibious cars launch which was very cool!

But then we really had to head back - it was past 4pm, Michael had dinner made at home and we were starting to get hungry! (Myla ate pretty much the entire tub of icecream and didn’t leave much for us)

On the way back, we stopped at Walmart to buy some more bottled water and get Myla a new pool ball as the one we got last week, ripped while playing this morning. For a change, she insisted on sitting in the trolley seat! She usually screams bloody murder when you try to put her into there now, as she's discovered that if she walks around, she can get into all the shelves and put stuff in the trolley. So this was a pleasant change for us!

Once home, we ate a lovely homemade dinner in the villa, and just relaxed and played in the house till bedtime! Michael and I fell asleep watching HGTV in our bedroom again - we agreed that we must see about getting a TV in our bedroom at home!

Another lovely day with some great photos. I love it when the kids decide they want to do exactly what you had planned all along.
