Hello everyone
I thought I should finally come on here and update you with what's been planned/booked as I seem to have abandoned this Pre trippy somewhat So what have we been up too? Life as usual has been hectic and we're all like ships passing in the night so really looking forward to not only the wedding but actually having some proper family time together! Hope has now finished her first year of Uni and is very happy to be back at home. It wasn't exactly a great year and she struggled with living away but if she goes back in September, will commute from home. Its about a 50 minute drive straight down the M3 to Winchester and as she has now passed her driving test is completely doable. She is now working loads of overtime as a lifeguard at the local Leisure Centre and is seriously contemplating doing her swim teacher training which I've encouraged her to do. Sam is very much looking forward to finishing his first year of sixth form. He as well isn't enjoying it as much as he hoped and loathes Economics so between us and his teachers have decided for him to drop the A Level down to an AS. Still leaves him with enough UCAS points to go to Uni if he wants as he was doing 3 and a half A Levels to begin with. He has also been accepted to do a paid internship as part of his Accountancy and Finance Pathway for the first half of the Summer hols which will be great for him and the future however he is more looking forward to extra spending money for the holiday I tell ya, these kids will be the death of me! Give me a baby or toddler over teenagers any day Back in April, myself, Hope and my Mum went to Philadelphia, W. Virginia and Washington DC for a week and had a blast. It was our first trip to the US since 2019 and it was so good to be back! If you know me at all by now, plenty of shopping was done . You can read all about it in my Trippy HERE The biggest news for me is I am finally changing career after over 20 years being a Beauty Therapist Back in November I applied to British Airways to be Cabin Crew! I know, huge midlife crisis right there It has been a long, long process as the whole company is massively low on staff. I had my interview in February, found out I got accepted in March and I will be starting my training on the 26th September, 2 weeks after we return home! I'm unbelievably nervous but very excited too I don't think there is much left to report so I'll now get back to the subject in hand - Florida! WEDDING UPDATE Outfits We are on the home stretch of getting everything organised but one big item we have ticked off the list is our Wedding Outfits. I was kind of dreading looking for my dress as I knew I didn't want to spend a lot, I wanted simple but elegant and not to look too much like mutton dressed as lamb So I looked online first and came across Coast Bridal. To be honest the photos online of the dresses don't come across very well but I ordered 5 that I quite liked the look of. Well what do you know, the very first one I tried on fit the bill of being exactly what I was after. It's very plain, no lace, beading or diamontes in sight and even better it was in the sale at under £200! I'm hoping to jazz it up with a lovely necklace and a tropical flower hairpiece, we are getting married on the beach after all Thinking of having my hair like this I have ordered some sandals from Accesorize but was wanting some heels too. I've fallen in love with these from Dune but I can't quite bring myself round to ordering them as they're £45 MORE than what the dress cost and I know I'll only wear them once! I can't stop thinking about them though, look how pretty? So with my outfit sorted I now needed to find suitable dresses for the girls. We have Hope who is barely 5'2 a size 10 and quite large chested, Jenny who is 5'7 and a size 6 everywhere and then Tilly who is only 12 but actually taller than me, very skinny and obviously a lot younger than Hope and Jen so needs to be aged appropriate. I ordered what felt like 100 dresses but have finally got the approval from all 3 of them! Hope and Jen's are from ASOS and a lovely shade of Blush Pink, then Tilly's is from Next. I have ordered Sean and William a shirt each from Next and Sam is either going to wear the same as Jim or if he gets his own way, "I just want a plain white one Mum" Sean's William's I have finally convinced Jim that he also needs a Hawaiian shirt too and have seen some fab ones on the Tommy Bahama website. We may be mad but are actually going to wait until we're out there and go shopping in our first week to the Mall at Millenia as they have a store there. Lets hope they have plenty of stock! He'll probably take a back up shirt just in case. These are the 2 we've seen and like Flowers and cake I have bought some faux flowers from the local garden centre as I'm hoping to make up some arrangements to attach onto the arch, a little like this. If I can and to save money, I'm hoping to be able to cut them off after the ceremony and use them as table centrepieces? Not sure if I'm going to be carrying any flowers, I'll probably visit a local florist to get something simple for us all. I wasn't planning on having a cake as there will only be 17 of us, but my sister who is an amazing cake decorator has said she wants to do one. I have found these fun inspo pics on Pinterest which she said is no issue. So it will be one layer with some iced biscuits underneath that I have ordered from Hometown Desserts on AMI. I've found the Adirondack Chairs cake toppers from a seller on Etsy, how cute are they? I've also ordered some half Oyster shells to use as place names, simple huh! Kind of glad we have 2 x 32kg suitcase limit on the way out as I've got a lot of stuff to bring! Ceremony We have been in touch with our lovely Officiant, Bonnie, who will be conducting the ceremony. We actually have a lot of questions we need to answer as to what type of wedding we would like, I didn't realise there was so much choice! She is very friendly though and has talked us through various options. We want it non religious and as simple as possible We have also chosen our photographer, Emma from Sandhill Photography. As part of the package from The Sandbar we get 1 hour of photography but have added an extra hour so we can get some lovely photos after the ceremony and hopefully of the sunset, weather permitting I liked Emma's portfolio as she had more candid style photos which is what we are after rather than group shots that no one usually wants to pose for! I think that is all of the wedding updates for now, next up the ever important 3 week itinerary and even more importantly where we'll be eating! |

Thank you Macca! I was so laid back with the planning thinking we had ages but then realised the weeks are flying by so needed to get my backside into gear. I think we're back on track though

Alicia, this all looks amazing! I love the bridesmaids dresses and I think you should go for the dune shoes as they are stunning. 😍 We have luggage space should you need it for the trip over - I can’t guarantee it will be the same for the trip home. 😬😂
The Adirondack chairs are adorable and I think your cake will look amazing 🤩 I am so excited for you and can’t wait for a DS celebration before the big day. 🥂🍾🎉💝 xx |

Wow lots going on.
Congratulations on your new job! I switched careers at 40 to teaching abd I couldn’t imagine doing anything else. The bridesmaid dresses and the boys shirts are lovely. You’ve got loads of great ideas for the wedding. The sandals are very pretty but Buy the shoes! When we got married my shoes were £5 less than my dress. Not long now.

It all looks gorgeous - simple but very apt for a beach wedding and I'm loving the cake ideas
